    Isn't the bolt catch reliant on the mag follower to press it upwards in order to lock the bolt back? Not trying to be argumentative or anything I'm just trying to make sure I understand.

    Plugged the champer with a spent cartridge, blew air through the muzzle and stuck my pinky up inside the upper to the belled end of the tube. Tons coming out the belled end.

    There does not appear to be any gas leaking out around the gas block. So that's good news.

    Just checked the gas tube and air is flowing through it freely and smoothly. Gas key is not loose and air moves freely through it with the bolt forward, but does not when the bolt is pressed back into the carrier. I don't really have any way of measuring the gas port on the barrel or the belled...

    That's what I would have thought but I read tons of posts on forums of people saying it had helped because their bolt was out running the mag spring and they were getting bolt override. The thing I can't figure out is how to diagnose the difference between short stroking and bolt override...
