Academy has Mossberg 18.5 slug replacement barrels for your 870 if you can find them. I picked one up for around $120 a few months back.

Yeah. They make actual replacements for the 870 specifically. Go check out your nearest Academy, slug barrel with a bead sight.

I'm running an 18" Mossberg made IC choked barrel on my 870. Fits great and no problems. Git you one if you can find one!
I think the black stain looks great. May try that on my scarred up old thumper.

Didn't want plastic. I can always change it as well there was no sanding. There for no wood was harmed in thus process.

I had a 500 years ago. Barrel wasn't as heavy as an 870 express. How's the Mossberg barrel compare. I kinda prefer the wood on the 870. The home defense 870's don't seem to have the fit or finish of the older expresses.

Looks good man. You can find remmy 18 " fixed ic or c barrels with the leaf sights for around 150-170 too. I would have no problem with the mossy barrels either..

I gave up trying to find an 18" or 18.5 with removable chokes and rifle front sight like the newer tactical ones have.
