It’s ok. I like the look, reticle, image size, and turrets. The CA on the EP5 kills me though. We used the SH4 4-16 at mammoth with good success, but they aren’t “jus az gud” as upper tier offerings. Definitely get the job done as a new shooter.
Yeah - new shooter, trying to get their feet wet, it's a good offering. But thinking that it punches outside of it's price point is a firm NO.

The ONLY scope that I have found to punch outside of its price point is the Meopta Optika 6 5-30 with DLO designed mil reticle. I have found far more scopes that don't live up to their price point than scopes that outperform their price.

I guess not everyone wants a $1000+ optic. While I appreciate the ones I have, it's not a must for being a competitive long range shooter.
Standard blurring of lines. The question was "does arken punch above it's price point." The answer is no. You are getting what you are paying for. Nothing more.

Yeah man you can use them for comps for sure. My brother used one twice at mammoth and it was the SH4. He had several hits from 750 - 1000. It’s just not NF or Razor quality. If you’ve never looked through $1000 + glass you won’t notice it. I think you have my XRS2? You can see the difference.

I still like my Arkens and will probably buy more. Just because they don't compare to nightforce, ZCO, zeiss, etc doesn't mean they don't have their place in the market.

If someone is wanting an entry level target scope there's nothing better than the arken for $600 price point. Would I like to have nice glass on every rifle I own, hell yeah. But we're not all made of money and I'd like to retire oneday.

I have now had 2. Neither have been impressive. Tunneling, edge distortion and chromatic aberration are my main complaints. For reference, I've had the EP 5-25 and the EP 1-8. Got rid of the 5-25 almost immediately, still have the 1-8 on a 10/22 for the kids to use if you want to see for yourself.
I’m basically a 40yo kid

I love the XRS2 I got from you I wish more companies would use the H59 reticle. I 100% agree its a notch above the arken. But the arken is still a great scope for under $600.

I shoot with guys regularly that have Nightforce, ZCO, Razor, Sightron S6's Optika 6's I've looked through them all, I don't have that kind of money to throw at glass and even if I did, I don't think the price difference is worth it TO ME.

Well, IMHO they are because of the aesthetics of a custom bolt AND charging handles. Yes, I have a good number of Ruger Logo bolts, but they take on a whole new character when they have a paisley scroll or a flag or something like that. I'm not much into the in-your-face "sayings" many of them have, but I do like the different designs, like flags, etc.

My go-to are the JWH Custom bolts. Great customer service and very well done. https://jwhcustom.com/

Well to settle this debate. Gadgetsrfun Gadgetsrfun and i are going to do a bolt test maybe before deer season but after it cools off some.

Between the two of us I'm almost positive we have almost every big name bolt out there. So were going take the same ammo, same rifle, same everything and shoot some groups and interchange bolts in-between to see how much of a difference they really make.

Any ideas to make this a more controlled test? We will torque the receiver into the action at the same in-lb each time we swap bolts. I'm sure one of us has a decent chassis that will bolt down the same every time we swap bolts.

Use the same receiver. Use good quality ammo (Lapua, Eley, SK, etc). Use a proven barrel, preferably proven with a particular lot of ammo and only run that ammo.

Ruger mfg tolerances and QC atrocious. A quality bolt is only one part of the equation.
