Hmm, I'm shooting a 300 WSM with a Barnes TTSX. Might work. Might be a disaster. BTW, I use the 20 grain small game loads in my 17, so not the explosive expansion you see with the varmint loads.
It's starting to rain here, I'd sure hate to melt while on the way to my stand........
Saw a 2 year old 8 point chasing 2 does across a field, then up and down the wood line across from me. He was eager. That's all I saw this morning. I tried rattling a little bit. Nothing doing.

Been away in the woods fellows. First time back on ODT for a while. Short story, bought 23 acres in Floyd July of this year. Prepped it with feeders, cameras and a few stands for me and my two boys. I passed on several with crossbow and muzzleloader. Yesterday I made up my mind i would shoot an "inaugural deer" and since 23 acres is too small to trophy manage I said to myself " I need some meat". 9:30 two big does feed towards me....then the grunting was coming from the thicket. Out he popped licking his lips and wafting the air.....boom, deer down. I knew he was no bruiser but the first deer on MY PROPERTY was special. I have this guy on camera as well as 3 bigger bucks. See trailcam pics attached. Long story short, I have several 130+ on the wall but I will remember this meager 6 pt also as my inaugural buck from my land. Happy hunting to all! Billy
