10/31 Halloween hunt

Thanks guys.
I’ll
probably get stuck cleaning toilets in whichever place that may be but at least I’ll not be a crispy cridder..hahaha.

Yeah I’m not sure if it’s meth or or psychosis but it ain’t a good thing stabbing imaginary people living in the ceiling and staying up at night yelling at people that aren’t there or sleeping with your eyes wide open with the kids trying to wake you up.
It all stemmed from a drugged out parent that prostituted her and her sisters as children.
This was one of the girls we adopted and she was a train wreck from day one.
She ran away in 11th grade and has been running wild ever since.
She finally settled down after the law finally caught up to her.
Did the drug court thing and was doing well.
Had another baby and passed drug court with success.
Had a good support group with us and other family members on our adopted side but lately started acting bizarre.
We should know more today if they catch up with her and pull a drug test.
Sorry to jack the hunting post with this but I figured you guys are the salt of the earth and if anyone could send good thoughts and prayers to her and the kids it would be you guys.

I may get a chance to hunt this evening if things settle a bit and mama is cool with it but doubtful.

Best of luck with your situation brother. Prayers sent!

What a glorious day in His creation!
A bit breezier than I was expecting. Didn't get to property until late morning and saw nothing. Not even a squirrel in a 3 hour or so sit. Took the stand again around 3:30 and the first couple of hours were the same way. Then things started to wake up a little. Saw the first ever fox squirrel on my property (A Sherman's Fox Squirrel). That ALONE made the trip worthwhile. I can always find a reason a hunt was 'successful'. That really made my day. This is Banks country. Watched a couple turkey hens in my little plot for about 30 minutes. Was really happy to see them as I thought the absurd amount of coyote pictures I've been getting didn't bode well for the local feathered crew. Watched 3 small does and a fawn for a while and played peek a poo with one. ODT buddy was watching a gray fox sun and then nap in front of his stand. Really a nice evening. I don't like shooting at last light so generally pack up early and am walking out before last legal light. Same thing yesterday. All packed up and getting ready to climb down when at 6:55 this dude (the first 2 of the 3 in this video) walked out angling towards me.

I let him get as close as he was going to (75-100 yards) before disappearing into the wood line and bleated a couple times to stop him. Cross hair were jumping. I always said if I ever lose that feeling I'm finding a new hobbie. Truth be told that's only the second time in my life I've ever gotten 'buck fever' and the other was for the smallest buck I ever shot in Georgia. :noidea:

He was quartering hard towards me and slightly to his left. Not ideal at all. I thought about taking out the front right shoulder to anchor him but didn't want to lose the meat. Shot just behind his shoulder and he bolted. He went 40-50 yards and was done. Bullet exited just in front of left rear ham HIGHER than entry (which was weird since I was hunting an elevated blind). Might have nicked backstrap. Hope not.

Can't tell from this pic but a TON of ground shrinkage :mmph: . Oh well, don't care and am getting him Euro'd anyway.

Thank you Lord for the health to enjoy your creation!

Now I need to go wash the 'success' out of my truck and decide if I want to be out in what should finally be perfect weather (35 degrees) in the morning.

Wow. God bless your efforts Comanche and bring peace to this woman! :(

That’s a fine one always great to have it go good

Sorry for the late post. I had this guy come in on me at 9:45. I was hunting with my recurve, so I was waiting on him to come in close. He caught wind of me and trotted off to the South. He ended up walking right up on my Father. This joker had a darn big body compared to his antlers, which can’t be eaten anyways. Looks a lot like a buck I killed there in 2014.
Here’s my father’s buck from yesterday.

This one below, from 2014, is probably his grandfather.

Congratulations buddy, I'm happy for you. Now you're making me want to take a drive and help you out with your buck problem.:pound:

I was able to squeeze out an evening hunt today.
Nothin but squirrels and beauty....oh and the wind made my tree sway about 4’ in each direction ...fun when 30’ up...wooo hooo!
