The porch is the old green treated lumber, the original deck was also but being exposed to the elements it lasted about 20 years. Both times the deck was rebuilt it was built with “yellow wood” and only lasted 10 years or so even with yearly sealing.
Dang!! I don't understand why it didn't last. Did it come with termites??......All I did was pressure wash mine every few years and it looked almost new every time

Yeah, it’s new pressure treated material but the lumber is such fast growth that it’s soft and if it last 15 years, I would be surprised what was there had been on since 1986!

Them women know how to point a finger. They have no idea all the work that goes behind it. Your Wife needs to give you lots of TLC!!!! You've earned it!!! And don't take no for an answer. They have no idea the crap they put us through. My Mother in Law is still living too. I really do try to help her, but........WOW!!!!
