No ammo?? I always had ammo in rifle and in my web gear. And maybe keep some in the truck. Just something to think about in the future. And then a handgun to bootSomething didn't sound right when I recharged my rifle.... ..

I'm going to. Last one I shot didn't hit where it should have. Off bad. That confirmed it.
Lesson learned.

Did you by chance put a new muzzle brake on your gun? I had an AR10 that would shoot great until I put a particular brake on it and them it was like closing your eyes and pointing. Runs fine with or without a can. Don't feel bad about missing, one of my brother's friends is 1 deer for 6 shots (that I know of) shooting at deer on our property.

Missing happens, we all do or have done it, but that is just pitiful! Below 20%, I think he would have to have some range time and learn to shoot before he would be hunting on my place again.
I've solved several of his issues. He knows how to use his scope adjustments now and not to change hunting ammo after gun is sighted in. He is a new hunter and gets excited when he sees a deer. A lot of his misses were before I got a chance to check out his rig. He just got a Bog Deathgrip for th3 ground blind he hunts out of and was shocked how much of a difference it makes.
Good on you for taking the time to help him out! We all start somewhere, a helpful guide shortens the learning curve. Best wishes for success in the future!
I'm trying to get him to hunt in the woods instead of the big curve in the driveway. He does see some deer, but his shots are a lot longer. My younger brother got him hunting there.
