11-6 Hunt

Early morning young Doe tender meat, I love these short sits
a little tore up, bullet hit the ribs on both sides then cut the leg in half
I'll tell you this, a 3 legged deer can run fast and far, I thought I missed
it went 73 yards running wide open then dropped
7mm-08 Hornady Superformance 139gr SST

NOTE: I bought a Rem. Youth Model 7 in 7mm-08 for my son in 1995 he was 10 (the rifle I used today)
a 7mm-08 has a lot of recoil shooting standard loads in this light rifle and I would not recommend it for kids starting out

Wow. Congrats.

Been using W/W Power Points. Old technology. In 308, you could stick a bandaid over the wound. In pistol, I use a soft FP. Good penetration and expansion. 257WBY blows blood right out of the nostrils and mouth. Usually no more than one step, dead. 30yds is the most I've seen one run after being hit. These are Spire Tips in 120gr

I may be out of the woods until Monday when the cold weather comes in. 75-degree afternoons and 60-degree mornings don't get them moving much. Weekend is a bust since we are watch the grandboys as usual (unless wife give me a kitchen pass).
Agree 100%! Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday mornings are going to be good! All next week actually.

Okay, in the spirit of full disclosure. I am not tooting my own horn, but I'm a good shot. Well the last 3 deer I've seen, I've pulled the trigger. Missed on clean shots all three times. Took rifle to my range. Bam 100yds first shot. WTH? :frusty:
