11-6 Hunt

Okay, in the spirit of full disclosure. I am not tooting my own horn, but I'm a good shot. Well the last 3 deer I've seen, I've pulled the trigger. Missed on clean shots all three times. Took rifle to my range. Bam 100yds first shot. WTH? :frusty:
Turn your scope down to around 4-4.5 power if it is turned up. Second, count down from 3 and either pull the trigger or lower your rifle. Adrenaline is about to kick in, and you can't hit a deer trying to time when the crosshairs will be on the deer. That is what we told the new hunter on our property. He actually laughed and wanted to know how I knew about trying to time the crosshairs and he was guilty.

Had a weird scope gremlin like that one season a few years ago, cost me what would have been my biggest buck to date. Eventually figured out it was off by a few feet when I shot a doe at 60-70 yards and hit her halfway up the neck when I was aiming low behind the shoulder.

Took the rifle home after that, ran a patch with bore cleaner through it twice, went to the range and stacked shots 1 inch low at 100 yds, which is where it was supposed to be zeroed, same box of ammo even. Never once touched the scope adjustments. Just magically shooting where it was supposed to again. The three shots I missed that season and the one I hit way off where I aimed were the only shots I ever shot out that rifle since the first zero, that were not dead on where I was aiming. Before and after, that gun was a rack driver. Even ran a few hundred through it out to 600 yds at CMP after that and it was as accurate as my skills would allow. Never did figure out what caused the issue that season.

After missing a 150”+ buck at 50 yards I got a redemption buck 20 minutes later following a doe. Never been a fan of mechanical broadheads but Megameats are like dynamite on a stick. Buck made it 40 yards.
