Looking for suggestions on muzzle devices for a 12.5” AR build.

I run SOLGW muzzle devices on my other rifles — should I stick with them, or is there something better you guys have had good results with?

What have you used and liked?

Thanks in advance.

If you're not needing a suppressor mount, there are several good flash hiders out there.

Bang for the buck, the standard A2 bird cage is hard to beat for the price. There are several companies that make "enhanced" versions of the A2 bird cage, but it's questionable whether or not they're worth the significant jump in price.

Any of the more modern 3- and 4-prong flash hiders tend to work a bit better than the A2 bird cage, but again, good ones cost quite a bit more.

AAC used to offer a 3-prong, non-suppressor version of the Blackout muzzle device that worked very well, and wasn't overly expensive for the quality and effectiveness.

I run a SilencerCo 3-prong ASR flash hider on my 12.5" duty gun, so I can mount my can when I want. When I'm not using a can, it's a very effective flash hider.

If this is a self-defense or duty weapon, stay away from brakes and comps. Quite an increase in noise and muzzle flash, for a reduction in recoil/muzzle rise. I'm assuming the gun you're asking about is chambered in 5.56. If so, recoil is negligible.
