12/5 hunt

Hunted morning and afternoon and didn't see anything. Only a couple on camera from last night. Been dead since the property flooded again end of last week. Going to try again tomorrow.

Saw 3. I shot at a doe with my .45 blackhawk she was roughly 30 yards. Clean miss. No blood no hair and further I walked just to make sure I found where the slug went through a small pine. Kinda embarrased. I haven't killed a doe in almost two years and I missed one that close. Oh well maybe it's just a sign.

It ain't a sign. You missed and that's hunting. I've had an embarrassing miss or five in my time. It can happen. Tomorrow you can make the best shot of your life. It is time for redemption. I'm tagged out on bucks for this season and have enough meat to last me a good while or I would be out there every chance I get...but ya know, I wasn't so fortunate last year...It can always be worse.

Look at that buck in your avatar. There's your sign, killer.

Dont feel bad. I had an embarrassing miss on a doe this year too. Off hand shot at about 150 from a blind. I got up and set for the shot and she turned from broadside to facing me to nibble on something tasty. Didnt want to move in case I spooked her so stayed up and set instead of putting down and resting till she gave me a shot. By the time she turned and gave me a shot the end of my rifle was dancing like Micheal J Fox after a pot of coffe or 2. Should have known better than to take the shot but at least it went into the dirt instead of wounding her. She was a nice doe. Lesson learned. Gonna get a shooting stick for blind hunting without a rest. And a monocular so I dont have to use my scope for initial glassing. I hate doing dumb crap when I know better.

"I hate doing dumb crap when I know better."

But every one of us do it anyway from time to time, LOL.

that's true. I'm also bucked out, so I do have a good bit of meat. If i had killed that one i had planned on giving some of the meat to some family that hasn't been as fortunate this season. Oh well next shot will be better.
