Been carrying a SIG P229 DA/SA as my duty gun for over 16 years now. A DA/SA trigger can be learned, and used very effectively under stress. The process of mastering that trigger isn’t as easy as it is with a handgun that has a single, constant trigger type, however.

^and that is why I carry a Glock and why I practice with it the most, even though I love Berettas more. If I had the time and resources to become more proficient with SA/DA, I would carry a Beretta 92. For now it is Glock, but I don't mind. It's a good carry gun.

Roosevelt stated: "Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.

Ive switch to DA/SA. Ive almost eliminated all my strikers.
1. safety
2. "I" shoot it better
3. double strike
4.I like metal
5. I wanted one brand to practice with. I found sawpping pistols at the range screwed my muscle memory and timing up.

To master anything takes practice.
I like shooting revolvers so that helped.
"for me" making me think about the first shot
improved my shooting vs just slapping the trigger.

You are right. If I want to carry what I really want to carry I simply need to step out of my comfort zone and start practicing with my SA/DA guns. I've been shooting Glocks for so long I keep sticking with them. I like them fine, but they are a bit boring to me. I just use what I know...Not that I'm great with any of them.

If its whst you want to do go for it. Just dont trade it off till youre sure. I waited about a year and felt comfortable enough to do the change. Im sure it isnt for everyone just like there are still revolver guys and 1911 guys. I tried 1911 and it just wasnt me. Tried Glock and it wasnt me.

Very helpful, thanks. Can you elaborate on "The process of mastering that trigger..."?

Practice. At 40,000 rounds we turn in our old duty weapon and are issued a new one. I’m in the process of wearing out Gun #5.

When I retire I plan on going back to the 1911. I’ve got some nice ones that don’t get much love nowadays.
