18 Most Expensive Guns Sold on GunBroker in May 2024

A man walked into my friend’s shop last year with a near mint, all original, full auto Thompson. Mid 30’s, if I recall correctly…He was asking $40k. The charging handle was so smooth it felt like it was wearing roller skates. Here’s my 10 (9 when the pic was taken) year old son holding it. He put on his serious face for the occasion. LOL

My buddy that owns Dixie Ammo Dump owns several variants of Thompson SMG; M1928A1's, M1's, and M1A1's.

He's also got M3's, at least one Reising gun, and more.

At one time he had a S&W Mark II 9mm Semi-Automatic Light Rifle, but I think he sold it. Here's an example:

Maybe im an idiot, but why the **** would anyone spend 32k on a colt 22 magnum revolver? The full auto stuff, and the stuff with history, I get.

Rarity.

There is no such thing as a Colt Diamondback factory chambered in .22 Magnum.

Colt toyed around with chambering the Diamondback in .22 Magnum, and went so far as to mark some barrels with .22 Magnum.

Someone at the factory screwed up, and installed 19 of the Magnum-marked barrels on standard .22LR Diamondbacks and shipped them out in 1976.

So, only 19 of these guns exist.

It's like the "upside down Jenny" postage stamp, or mis-stamped coins.......they bring a premium to collectors.

Cool, I guess. Beauty in the eye of the beholder.
