I can get you on standardizing mags/chokes/etc. across your collection, makes sense. When we lived in Darien Academy Sports finally built a store in Brunswick. That was first time I EVER saw a Hi Point for sale anywhere aside from a pawn shop. And that's when I knew Hi Point had finally went main stream. On top of that they're usually sold out of all models.
Is it the best model of firearm? Hell no! Is it the best bet if you only have $150.00 or less? Definitely! As of now I own 3 C9S a 4095 carbine and the pistol that uses the same mags. I have seen videos of HiPoints jamming/nose dive rounds but none of mine have done that so far.
If that model works for your needs, and in your experience is reliable, good for you. You probably saved a lot more $ than some.
For my money, if we're talking $1200 1911s: I'd propose two of these. Although I can get it on having the best for competition $1200 North - For serious athletes practicing as hard as they do, having the best is just part of the obsession.
For people saying they spent $ whatever on a SCAR they never shoot, that's another room.
