Thank you so much its appreciated!Yeah, you'll need a barrel bushing type comp...unless you want one that installs on a threaded barrel, which would increase the cost and complexity alot when you add on the $100-$300 for the price of a threaded barrel and the possible work it would take to fit that barrel into your 1911.
I've bought about 10 barrel bushing comps off of Ebay, and they work fine. I can definitely tell a difference in muzzle flip and felt recoil, but I think it's mostly due to the added weight and not from the comp directing the gasses upward. Here's links to a couple examples...

It's best to make sure the comp you buy has a similar finish as your 1911, otherwise it will look a little funny. With your SDS, you'll probably want a satin stainless comp, and not one that has a polished finish. A black comp would probably look good on there too, since your grips and controls are black as well. Just something to consider.
Here's the 2 styles of barrel bushing comps that I have ordrered off of ebay, along with my Tisas Duty with a comp, all of which have now been replaced with threaded barrels so I can shoot them suppressed. Except for a couple of them that I put 6" threaded barrels in, so I can keep the comp and still shoot suppressed. 😀 I attached a photo of one of those at the bottom.
