1911 Tuckable IWB holster

Well after a lot of time working on this I think I finally got something put together that I would hope people would be proud to wear. I know I am plus it is very comfortable. With everyone making kydex holsters, I figured I would make one from both leather and kydex. Some neighbors and friends want one but I was wondering who else out there may be interested in something like this. Possibly in the $100-$150 price range....(not set in stone). Right now I only have a commander size 1911 to make it from but would consider other pistols if I could get enough interest in it. I am not a professional and this is just something I made in my basement while watching tv and such. Let me know what you think about it.

First of all, congrats on making what looks like a nice holster...BUT, for $100-$150 you are talking Milt Sparks, R Grizzle, etc. prices. I'm not saying that your holster isn't nice; you should be proud of it because you made it, but for that price I'd rather have a Milt Sparks or an R Grizzle. Just my $.02.

Would have saved me a ton of time. I was looking at TT Gunleather and didn't want to wait 12 weeks. Regardless I couldn't be happier with the way this thing wears.

I would think that you would have better results at that price range...Another thing to consider is wrapping the kydex in leather where you have it reinforcing the mouth of the holster and sewing it in instead of using the screws to hold the kydex in place. Milt Sparks uses metal reinforcements at the mouth of the holster and wraps it in leather. It would eliminate the need for the screws and it would look a little bit cleaner.

The kydex is for both reinforcement and retention hence the screws. Having that piece covered in leather wasn't the look I was going for. I was trying to keep the overall holster somewhat thin. I did make a holster before this one where I covered a whole piece of kydex with leather inside and out. It turned out pretty good and is comfortable as well but is really thick.

Okay, so the kydex must wrap all the way around the holster. Do you have a picture of the other side of the holster?

The kydex is sandwiched between the two pieces I used to make the back piece. It wraps around and is extened up in the pinch guard. I'll take a picture of it later tonight.

Okay, I understand what you did now....Do you have any pics of the other holster you made?

Here is a pic of the back of the new holster and also pics of my first ever attemp at a holster. I didn't have a clue how to do much of it....especially dying the leather. But it is more comfortable than my m-tac. It just isn't tuckable. And I used standard button snaps. The new holster has pull the dot snaps. The old holster has a solid piece of kydex sandwiched between the leather covering the whole pistol so it is pretty rugged.
