1911 vs. Baseball bat

You're in an alley face to face with a bad guy. On the ground in between and the bad guy is a baseball bat and a 1911. Which one do you go for and why.

Assume the 1911 is not yours.

Agreed in the time it takes the perp to reach for one while bending down his eyes are off you. One good kick to the face and it's lights out !!!
