2010 Toyota Camry engine burning oil somewhere.

Definitely run some Seafoam in the engine a couple of times on the 5-600 miles prior to oil change. That stuff works wonders. How oil lost are we talking?
I run Seafoam through the fuel lines especially before any long trips and every other oil change. I don't like ethanol because it creates water moisture in the combustion process. Always work to keep the vehicle maintenance on schedule. I cannot afford to ignore the general and regularly scheduled maintenance in keeping the engine, transmission and other operating components to keep running properly. I will put some through the crankcase prior to the oil changes to help see if it reduces the oil loss in the Camry.

Well documented engineering (rare!) flaw that can be found easily online. Just speaking from my experience from owning three Camry’s in our family and all lasting more miles than you mentioned, just add as needed. Watch Scotty Kilmer on YouTube for more info. These engines are long lasting, just a flaw in the piston/ring design. Caution for a flush though, at that many miles you can possibly dislodge a little bit too much. With Toyota’s, my experience has been recommended maintenance is always the key for longevity. Just my opinion and good luck my friend
WILCO and Thank you for the insight.
When I brought the oil loss up with the advisor and the mechanic, they said that it is a flaw that Toyota knows about and have a parts kits already put together to replace and correct the machining or mechanical flaw; which is everything for a rebuilt engine.

Im not sure exactly when it was fixed but Toyota tried a new low friction piston ring in the Camrys and it caused oil consumption issues. There was a recall for it but I think that is long over

I guess it depends if your doing the work yourself or farming it out. Me, I would be farming it out, and at the cost of that I could buy another or possibly 2 Camrys with 260K on them. Doing it yourself you would probably make out ok.

having to check that oil teaches responsibility. my sons jeep drank the oil

I know a kid that didn't know the importance of maintenance because he was never taught. The good news is I had a friend whos dad was a machinist and a mechanic and he helped me pull the engine and rebuild it. To this day I am diligent with maintenance and have instilled that in my kids.

If this is a known Toyota problem, I would call dealerships to see if Toyota will take care of it. It's a long shot but I knew a guy with a 3.0 with bad head gaskets in his pickup; he got a complete engine rebuild for the cost of an oil pump when the truck had 300+ miles on it 20 years after it was built.
