Just put a new transmission in the wife's 2016 Silverado 5.3 6 speed. Cost $4700. Transmission guy said it's super common on these trucks and the interweb agrees. All kinds of transmission issues. So if it's on the original transmission you should consider it's going to be a costly repair sooner rather than later.
Had to replace the AC compressor also, mechanic also said he's replaced a ton of them on this model, said he can't believe they haven't recalled that part because they all go out.

Bro run! Those torque converters BLOW! Stay away or do your research just look up 5.3 torque converter issues

Is the 5.3 you’re looking at have the Displacement on demand V-8-6-4 thing ?
Seen some issues with those but the trucks we have dont have it since they are 2500 work trucks
With automatic transmissions you shouid change the fluid every 40k or something like that but if you don’t , and it rolls up a lot of miles then just leave the origional fluid
Don’t go changing the old fluid on a vehicle that has a lot of miles on it
