2020 BABY Duramax (check engine lite)

What was the check engine light for?

Routine scheduled maintenance or something else?

Also, those dash mounted mpg calculators do not replace a paper and pencil. Start recording your mileage and figure the mpg the old way.

Well , being you have a dpf / scr aftertreatment system in place of the standard muffler setup. And it will perform what is called passive regeneration of the filter and it will dose raw diesel into the exhaust system to get the exhaust temps up to burn off the accumulation of soot.. now the more fuel you burn in the engine to more you will contribute to the soot buildup and there for needing to dose fuel in the aftertreatment system and that fuel is not calculated in with the fuel economy. Well the fuel economy also takes the amount of fuel in the tank and compared to the miles you have driven along with the fuel mileage you are getting in a certain time frame and give you "Mpg" so you will see a reduction in fuel economy depending on how you drive the truck . If you drive at hwy speeds for 30-60 min it will use less fuel for the aftertreatment then just city and stop and go .. as for the cel. That could have been for a forced regen needed or an aftertreatment code.
And yes I'm a diesel tech that deals with the aftertreatment systems on a daily basis.

Oh GREAT ODT WORLD!WHO KNOWS ALL- seen all-experience all. Even seen the wind .
OK here’s the story 16,000 miles check engine light comes on. Prior to this this 3.0 L diesel had been getting 28 mpg! Now after visit to dr. The baby Duramax will not get 24 mpg. Went back to dr. Chevy cannot find anything?(Oh great minds of the Odt world remember this all of this was done over the computer calculations I did not keep up with gallons are marks are totally relied on the computer)
1.Light come on One star called Said if check engine light went to flashing it would shut down regardless of where I was.
2.computer was reset at every tank(always at least 27mpg)
3 tank mpg was always on the 400 miles setting.
4. On 3 tank since dr. Visit I have reset the factory settings!
5.so what do I do now?

Wait what? ‘OneStar’ (assuming you meant On Star) called you and told you the engine would shut down if CEL starts flashing? Sounds like one of those malware scams where they create the problem and sell you the solution. Highly suspect. :thumb:
