Hope they ain’t done by the time season starts
They ain't done til June. The science behind turkey breeding is much like deer. It's dictated by photoperiod, or the number of hours of light in a day aligning right with what is in their genetics on when their body's tell them "it's time". Combine that with the hen controls when she releases the sperm from the duct into her actual reproductive organs to form the egg. The hens can hold sperm from different birds for up to 28 days research has shown. Make no mistake though they will begin breeding within the next week to two weeks, if they haven't already. That's why the season was pushed back by two weeks, so that the dominant Toms could breed before being removed from the gene pool.
