2024 College Football thread.

Yep, it was easy to see in a few plays that Indiana was not up to the size and speed needed. Next week will be interesting, but ND better strap it on tight, they are in trouble I think
Yes and no…remember Arizona State and Boise State are sitting in the quarter final bracket waiting to find out who’s going to end their seasons.

The announcers are trying to make excuses for the playoff committee’s poor choices and SMU’s sorry performance in this game.

The talking head just said, referring to the inevitable criticism of including SMU and keeping Miami or Alabama out;

“SMUs poor performance today doesn’t invalidate their their season and selection any more that a dominant performance would validate their season”

heard um say that....almost threw up....they did mention that they(SMU) didn't play Miami or Ga Tech....
AND this will come up in the SEC....some teams could go undefeated not having played Alabama, or Georgia....with the possibility of the SEC and others foregoing a championship game....however as I type that....I'm thinking too much money left on the table....hard to believe the SEC would give up a championship game....

When I think of conference championships I think more of the historic bragging rights than money. I think that playoff games probably generate more, or at least as much money as a conference championship game maybe?

If it comes down to the NCAA wanting to do away with conference championship games to facilitate an expanded playoff that brings more money to everyone…the conference heads will likely decide the best record/highest ranked individual team at regular season’s end will be declared the conference champion and that will be good enough.
