2024 Sweat N’ Bullets 17South Aug 10

In prepping, I guess running to fridge for another beer doesn't count .............................. asking for a friend
If you want to walk the course and shoot, then sure. People do that and still have loads of fun. You don't have to be uber competitive to have a fun time. No one looks down on that at RnG's, its probably the best comp community there is.

And specifically for 17 South RnGs, spray/wipe all your metal guns/gear down with Birchwood Casey Barricade before heading out. You will thank me for this. The water crossings are brackish and rust will build up insanely fast if you don't. Obviously clean them after the run as soon as possible.

I recommend the safariland forks for your pistol holster - most RNGs let you move your pistol + holster to your pack because your pistol stays in the holster the whole time. This keeps it out of the water for those crossings. Having said that, your mags will still fill up with water and mud.

I will field strip and spray wd-40 over everything right after the match. It prevents rust and flushes out any gunk.

I did spring for the Safariland ALS.
I’ll have to either figure how to keep it all dry or test the sheet out of my equipment.

I’ll have WD and clp handy for sure.

AWESOME........ still waiting for right knee replacement 'walking at best' is all I do ....

I recommend that you tell the ROs at each stage if it's your first event / first RnG. They'll usually provide a bit more coaching to make sure you're staying safe.

So this is coming up pretty quick and I definitely have not met my PT quota! But I did do a short pistol course and Macon on Saturday. I enjoyed it and I will be doing many more. As for the two gun coming up, the only thing I can’t figure out is if I wanna run my 16 or 10 1/2 inch, supressed. I don’t know what the longest is so maybe I will just bring both.

The rest of it, I will be going at my own pace. I am really looking forward to it.

Well, here we go. Head down tomorrow and I am def not ready. As I want to be anyway.

But we gon do it. I have a feeling it’s gonna muuuuch wetter than anyone anticipated with that storm that went through.

Cheers to NOT dyin!!!!

Don't drink just water. Look at no sugar added electrolyte mixes in your hydration rotation so you retain some of it. It might be easier to run in muck boots from the look of things.

Agreed. Been hydrating a ton all week with water. I plan to get some zero sugar electrolyte drinks tonight and tomorrow. My run time is 12:15.
