My son drew Zone 2 with 5 points. Hard to believe 5 pts got in the door. We hunt on our own. I`ve gotten two decent gators that way. I have never used a guide or outfitter for anything anywhere. I did call a guide (friend of a friend) for advice on equipment before my first gator hunt.

We hunted zone 7 last year. We’re hunting zone 2 this year. If you have a boat, or a friend with one, you don’t need a guide. If you’re looking to eat the gator, you don’t want a monster. I wouldn’t take anything over 10 feet if I was gonna eat it. Some 10s won’t be fit to eat.
You and cuda67bnl both are correct. You can go DIY and kill a gator.
This is more about hunting with an old friend more so than it is about booking a guide service. It just so happens that I have a good friend who does it. I enjoy getting to see him and the camaraderie more so than the hunting. This is no different than deer camp to me.
My 12 ate just as good as my sons 9. Lot of folks ate that 12 at Meet and greets never complained. 9s and 10s seem to fight better tho
Same between the 2 gators we’ve taken in my household. It’s all a matter of how well you prep it.
Yep. I got both gators cooled right quick.
Was a tough learning curve for me. Finally figured out if I treated it like BBQ, it turned out good. Low and slow worked for me.
