Hard to beat a stainless mark II.

Best 22 pistol I have ever owned. By far!

as far as reliablity the mark I/II/III wins it IMO. The ruger sr22 is a pretty sweet shooter as well, But I dont see that being a prime candidate for what you plan on using it for.

What he said. But they have a somewhat traditional slide that you said you weren't interested in. They are great shooters, though.

Its like a half slide...very similar to the Beretta Neo and some the Colt Woodsman. The name of the latter implies it will work in the woods.

The 22/45 or a Mark I, II, or III will serve you well. Get one in stainless if you plan to use it outdoors.

I have the Govt Tgt model and she shoots well.

It shoots great.

there is a 22/45 lite for sale on the ODT now-i believe it is 300..i got the sr-22 and love it-also have a old mark I i have used for quit a long time--been in the mud-rain-it's not pretty but it goes bang

I have three variations of the Ruger MKII and they are great pistols.
I have shot a friends Browning Buckmark and they are great shooters too.

I plan to be purchasing one soon. Just wanna continue on doing my research a bit more. Im not a huge fan of buying 4-5 of something before finding the right one for me bc I was a lazy Googler lol
