Carry permits are just another tax on law abiding citizens. No violent criminal has ever been thwarted because he was scared of weapons charges. "Well I was going to go in there a shoot the place up but I might get busted for carrying with out a permit. These 30 rounders arn't legal in this state either. Dont want any misdemeanor weapons charges on top of malice murder so I guess I will just sit at home"- Said by no criminal ever

I have a hard time believing anything like this will happen in GA; not because of the gun thing but because of the money the state gets off permit fees.
Alaska had Constructional carry for a while. I like their version of the law better. It also allowed someone to get a permit to carry in the non-Constitutional carry state. Alaska is a very transient state, with lots of family/relatives living Outside. I do not think state lost a lot of money (some, sure), but many folks I knew kept their CCLs, for reciprocity sake.

I know we have a bill going hopefully it passes but yes they make a lot of money on it and $30 renewals are only in your area. My 5 year renewal was $75. If it doesn't go through I'm going to get the Utah non resident permit probably. Hopefully S. Carolina recognizes us as well

You do realize that as a resident of GA, you cannot legally carry in GA using another states non-resident permit. That permit would allow you to carry in any state that has reciprocity with Utah, EXCEPT GA. If you are a resident of GA, the only permit that grants legality to carrying a weapon in GA is a GWL.

Well it appears someone counted the W.V. chickens before they hatched...... I wonder how much Bloomberg money the governor secured to veto the bill?

"However, I must also be responsive to the apprehension of law enforcement officers from across the state, who have concerns about the bill as it relates to the safety of their fellow officers."

I wonder who it is that elects the governor in that state, the cops?
It seems politicians can do anything they want if it is in the name of keeping cops or kids safe.
I am getting tired of my rights being whittled away every day due to this trend. It seems to me, most people realize it is a dangerous job when they sign up for it.

Funny thing about the WV case is I've read they have the votes to overturn the veto if they call the legislature back into session, so it really makes no sense to veto it. It'll also be funny when this costs West Virginia's Democrats the governorship in 2016. Becoming more and more clear over the years that the Democrats who represented the interests of the coal miners are either dead or have moved to the Republican Party.
