its funny when you talk to some people about this...some of my friends, which I hate to admit are such lib *******....they are convinced that ISIS is no threat and their numbers are far below the estimated 30K. They believe that we could just send a couple thousand US troops there and rid the population of jihadists. While I am a huge advocate/supporter of our military, In order to control them, we would have to set up several permanent bases, comprised of hundreds of thousands of troop from every corner of the world, to maintain pressure on them. They just cant fathom the size of the area and what it would take to control it...assuming we could control it
That's easy...could be a forward fighter base...may not have a runway to support anything bugger than a C130 which likely is NOT kept there. If they have helos they may be of the attack type and not transport. 300 people is a lot to evacuate via air even if you had Pavelows.
What's very worrying is that is a training base..which means their supplies and real combat capability may be limited. I have no doubt those Marines will fight to the death...i just hope they have what they need to do so. I really hope no one is told to stand down like the last time Americans were trapped.

Man, I hope this isn't true, but if it is, I hope those Marines are armed to the teeth.
I just talked to my Dad about this and he says that an air base 15 miles from where the marines are stationed was captured. That they haven't actually captured our men on the ground. The marines that are there are trainers for the Iraqi military.
Hmm, 300 Marines? Sounds like isis is outnumbered!
