I've been eye balling this 3" 7 shot 686. It is a good deal...Either way I believe a 3" is really what you want. I've tried most of them, and 3" is the happy place for a carry revolver, IMO, and especially a .357.

The sights kill it for me. I’m spoiled shooting red dots on my handguns right now. Rear trench sights will kill me.

3" Ruger GP 100 should fit your bill.

If you want to move up to a 4", go with a Match Champion!

I have a match champion and I love it. I carry it with me turkey hunting walking many miles. It’s not exactly compact but for what I need it for it’s perfect.

Hard to beat a semi auto .357 . Never had a single issue .

I do have one revolver as I cannot get the swing of them except the 29. I do want a .357 one day
