I’ve use wd-40 to remove the rust. Then dry and apply whatever gun oil you use.

Never heard of it but it sounds kinda promising. Hardware store item or gun refinishing item?

I got mine off Amazon. Probably more in the gun item category but some hardware store may have them.

Light rust I use Hoppes #9 and the steel wool (0000).

You can soak rags with ATF and wrap that around the steel parts, bag it and stand it in a closet (seal it tight or you'll be dealing with the missus). After a few weeks most if not all the rust will be separated from the metal and you can lightly polish with steel wool and oil it.

Learned from an old school gunsmith, and been using this method over 10 years.

CLEAN DRY 0000 STEEL WOOL.

No need for oil or anything else, it only makes matters worse and more messy. Use clean dry steel wool, it cuts better, constantly rotate the steel wool so you're always using a clean portion. Very important.

Use oil AFTER all the rust is gone.

I’ve used this method a good bit.

Works well and I also agree with the dry steel wool. I use the oil free steel wool.

I ain't disassembled it yet. The action is smooth and I like what I see so far. I didn't wanna take it apart at first since I'm used to Mossberg actions and this tang mounted safety all built into the trigger group was a little worrisome. But after seeing a few videos it ain't any more of a bitch than the old Noble 66 I rehabbed last year.
