4.3 Vortec

This may sound bad but im not into it for MPG's if i was id get a diesel volkswagon

If thats the case you will probably enjoy it, like I said, the only complaint I had was fuel mileage. It had plenty of power and I put 100,000 of hard miles on it. I think it had 120,000 miles when I got it.

Lookin for something to go hunting in and rather have that lil truck than my other truck or that heavy Yukon down in the woods. And that sonoma from what yall have said will already be getting better fuel mileage than my truck

Its already got a kn cold air on it

With an CAI do not put an aftermarket exhaust on, it will zero out the hp gain. I had a 98 s10 5 speed 4.3, installed the K&n and wow what a difference! I raced a GT, waxed his ass from 0-98. A week or so later I put on flo masters and it took the hp back to normal. I asked a mechanic why it did that, he said with the after market exhaust I was flowing too much air. But yes a GREAT motor.

Do you remember what size pipes you installed? Some people have reported the same thing when installing 3" pipes so most recommend 2.5".

14/15 with a 4.3?!?!?!? How on earth do you guys drive?!!?!?!?!?!?

I had a 95' lifted extended cab z71 on 33'' mud tires with the 5.7 and averaged 18/19!

And currently have a 88' S-10 with the 4.3 and auto and average 19/21!

I mean I drive smoother than most people but daym!

On the 4.3 very good very reliable motor, usually make it to around the 200-250k mark before any major problems (IF IT WAS TAKEN CARE OF!!!) Easy to work on, and the 700r4 they are usually mated to is just as reliable. Both are cheap to rebuild later down the road compared to many vehicles...About 800 for complete rebuild of engine and about 1200 on the trans...

But having a V-6 in a full size truck never made since to me...You have less power less towing and LESS GAS MILEAGE.....Why anyone would purposely do it is beyond me....

Son in law has at 4.3 with almost 300K on it and still going strong. If it will hold up under his big foot and butt it will hold up under anybody!
Basically at GM 350 engine with two cylinders cut off.
