4 Round Tires? Impossible…

No, not that many. :scared:

I had one set of Armstrong tires from Sears many many years ago that I got some credit for. I just thought they were out of balance and went in again to get them checked.

Turns out they were a bad type (not round) and store knew about it. Guess there was a recall or the manufacturer was just replacing them as they came back in.

The last three set of tires I bought for three different vehicles from three different tire shops have had at least two tires from each set that were defective. One set of Bridgestones, one Goodyear and third brand I cant remember. Anyone else experiencing this many defective tires? In every case, the tech just balanced them and sent me home. If he had sighted down the tread while balancing, they could have caught it on the install. Instead they march on and I get to fight for a replacement. If I ever run across a coats for a deal Im making room for it in my shop. So -tired- of getting stuck with crap tires that they should have caught during the install.
Seems like everything has quality control issues anymore. I've been buying Michelins and BF Goodrich, which is Michelin. No problems, but I can tell you some of the tires don't seem to be of yore. The BFG white letters have all been good

Yep. And I can use a thinner tire and still get traction. So less power loss to turn a larger tire. That's Radial TAs. Then All Terrains on my trucks. Those are the best truck tire I've ever used

I know that this will not help your problem, but hope some can get a laugh out of it. Out of round tires has been a problem as long as I can remember. I worked for Chevrolet Dealerships all my life and retired from one. I started out working in new car get ready and went on as a line mechanic about a year after getting out of technical school. I am about to tell my age because I went to work for my first dealership in 1971.
I do not remember what year it was, but had to be in the early to mid 70's. At this time GM's warranty on new cars was 12 months or 12,000 miles whichever came first. Tires were not on the GM warranty, but had to be handled through the tire stores of the particular tire brand. We had a customer that had an issue with some tires on his new car and our front end man had balanced the tires multiple times. At the time we had a service manager that was a little hot headed and he and the customer had got into an argument concerning the tire on his new car. The customer had got to the point of asking the service manager to meet him in the street and told him that our shop wasn't capable of balancing tires. At this point the service manager replied, WE CAN BALANCE A BRICK ON A STICK, BUT I CAN'T MAKE IT ROLL!!!

Thanks for this thread. It brought back a memory of a good laugh. Thanks for reading.

Just put a fresh set of michelins on my truck a few months ago. They aren't cheap but they are worth it. I got almost 100,000 miles out of my last set
What kind of vehicle? I never got that many miles on a set of tires, but you're about the second person I've ever heard of. The first was a old VW Beetle. I can't remember exactly how many miles, but my Dodge 2500 4x4 came with the BFG Long Trail. Miles were like @ 65-80k. All Terrains on my Ford F250 50-60k, GMC 2500 25k and Dodge 60k. All 4x4, the GMs eat those tires up. But they're a great off road tire

Tahoe. One of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. Currently at 375k and still going strong. Chevy trucks from the early 2000s are damn near bulletproof
