My old man used to put 600 pound hogs down with a single 22 short from an old High Standard pistol. I didn't understand it at the time when he had many other choices. He said never use more than necessary and take your time in shot placement. I know holding the muzzle 2 inches from the hogs forehead isn't the same as reacting to an intruder but it does underscore that one shouldn't become over confident just in carrying a 45. I have and do EDC .380, 9mm Sig938, and the occasional day when the 45 in my sweet Sig 1911 feels right. I love and trust them all.
