My Dad was a WWII vet. He died when I was almost 6. Remember Him a lot about him and miss him deeply. Now I'm 51 have a Daughter who is 15 and a Son that is 9.
My Father started his own salvage buisnes and later a logging buisness. He was the Pastor of our church up until the months prior to his death.
He worked like a dog and loved to fish and shrimp. He raised 9 kids own his own sweat and blood and always made sure his family was taken care of.
He married my mother when they were just kids and she was still holding his hand when he left this world in 1999.
He said he could'nt give us much, but he was gonna teach us how to work so If I starved it wasn't because I didn't know how to work. ( Boy Did he teach us.)
He said that there was good in every man sometimes you just had to look real hard to find it. He could fish all day in the sunshine with just a bottle of water and a pack of cheese crakers and be happy as could be.
The worst and also the proudest day of my life was when myself and my 5 brothers were pall bearers for my father and carried him out of his church and laid him to rest at our family cemetery.
Gone but not forgotten L. J. Hutcheson
I'm in.
My Dad is 74. He's still my "go to" guy when things get tough and he's my friend.
He was a super stud in H.S. sports and was the first person selected to the Waynesboro (Va) High School Hall of Fame! Also won four straight city championships in modified softball with the Beer Mug from '70 - 73 and countless other tennis and softball championships! Always very competitive but never a gun person, however he's almost ready (with my encouragment)for a 930SPX for H.D. These days we enjoy tennis and Texas hold 'em. Thanks Dad. Thanks OP!
In as well. Missed my Dad today as well. Lost him to emphysema 36 years ago from cigarette smoking when I was 20. He was much older than my Mom and would be 100 today. He was a kind man that served in the 63rd Signal Battalion in WWII. Two things he would not do as a result of his WWII service included standing in any line and participating in any form of violence. He never even spanked me or my brother so I could never relate to those that got it good from their Dads (don't worry though my dear Mom wore both of us out frequently and we deserved every one!). ha Happy Fathers Day to all.
I'm in. I was born in 43. My Dad was in the Army. He went ashore at Omaha Beach on D Day. He was blown up
after about 6 days. A 88 landed in his fox hole. He lived with German steel in his legs and back til 1977. He never
complained to my knowledge. I still miss him after all these years.
