i have never loaded this cal. i see where they load 308. dia. and 311.dia. will they both work in a ar15. which would be more accurate? i would guess the 311 but i have a lot of 308 dia. thanks kevin
 
Yes .311 is correct and are more accurate but I have seen .308s... One of my friends has come up with a Nosler ballistic tip 308 that he deer hunts with and it will actually shoot under 4" out of his SKS

Just to muddle the water some.

.303 British is .311 bullet

.32 caliber pistols bullets (.32 S&W. 32 H&R Magnum, .327 Federal, .32-20) are .312 bullets.

i don't load 7.62 X 39, but seems to me that there is some interesting experimenting that could be done with some 100 gr. .32 cal. bullets, especially as the pistol bullets are intended to expand at lower velocities.

All that said, 1006 is probably correct -American barrel = .308
