I have read the 86 F150 had an odd fuel system. It was first year of fuel injection?? I ask bc I have a lead on a nice 86 F150 with a 302 done by Jasper. Any worries with the 86 fuel system?

1985 was the first year for 5.0 EFI.

A relative had one back in '86-2002. It was a great truck - engine ran smooth and strong. Only issue he had was in later years the ignition box would get hot and the truck would be hard to start. Once it cooled off it was fine.

The ignition box was mounted to the distributor shaft side, so moving it away from that heat would be the solution.
