9mm Carry for a small woman

For a semi-auto, I recommend the Kahr. It's about the smallest out there in 9mm. Yeah, you gotta break em in before they're 100% reliable. But you wanna get some trigger time with it anyway!

Awful lot of Kahr loving going on this thread. For the money it's hard to beat. Got a nice trigger, thinnest, light weight, lower recoil than any others and it's under $400.

I'd never trust a SD gun with less than 100 or two rounds through it. Kahr just states it in writing.

I got a kimber solo, bi tone in mint condition. Had 20 rounds down the chamber.

I've got an MP9c and it's a fine small 9mm, BUT, I've found one that's just as good, but muuuch purdier.....the CZ 2075 Rami 9mm in alloy. The slide is a full inch shorter than the slide on the MP9c, capacity is a couple rounds less, weight is 3 oz. heavier. The trigger is DA/SA. The DA trigger is comparable to that of the LCR revolver, which means not too bad. The subsequent SA trigger pull is very light, though. Check out the CZ's. CZ, like a lot of manufacturers, is behind on production. Georgia Gun Store in Gainesville has a pretty decent number of them, though.

Since you are trying to sell this here too and I didn't want to ask this in your ad in the classified section. I have a question, in your sale ad you said it is a good defensive pistol just not a good range gun. Except you have only put 20 rounds though it. Is 20 rounds giving it a chance? Also how can something be a good defensive gun but not a good range gun? I would think something that didn't work well on the range would be a **** choice to carry.

When I meant its not a good range gun was it wasn't too comfortable after a while. I really felt it after 10 rounds. Maybe its because I'm skinny and small but the recoil of the gun was getting to my shooting hand. Honestly, I don't know how it performs but the "breaking" period is 24 rounds I think. From what I experienced, those 3 mags that I shot from the solo, none of it failed or jammed and I was using the 115gr.

Like I said, a bigger man with more strength would be able to shoot this gun for a while, but with me, it was starting to rub up and give the back of my thumb a blister.

I was also shooting my Walther P99 compact and that gun is just as light as the solo and that was also snappy. I don't know if its the gun or was it the 700 rounds I went thru that day.

Alright fair enough but then that brings me to my next question. If it was uncomfortable for you to shoot then why try to pitch it here in this thread titled "9mm Carry for a small woman"? Why not offer up your experiences with the pistol so the OP has a better shot at making an informed choice? I guess what I am trying to say is I realize this is a sales site but this section is more about talk, question and answers. Even though you only have 20 rounds though the Kimber Solo you could have given the OP a little bit of a review along with your sales pitch. It would have been more helpful. That's all I am saying.

As for the Solo I have heard mixed reviews along the lines of yours. It is unfortunate I really wanted the Solo to be a better pistol. I am waiting for an M&P Shield right now. Hopefully I will have it next week.

If a small woman was searching for a conceal carry gun, as stated in the post, it would have been any sub compact guns and let me tell you, there isn't a sub compact gun that I found yet or shot that wasn't too comfortable AT the range, unless she goes a caliber lower than 9mm, but IMO 9mm is the least you want for self protection. Sure anyone can buy a sub compact gun for self protection, but whats good is a gun if you have no shooting experience? I'm sure the solo isn't any different from any other guns here that was suggested. Yeah she could go with a 1911 one, but it would be as heavy as ****. Honestly in the reliable section, Kimber is probably one of the top, I don't know where these other people with Kimber's FTF and FTE come from.
