Friend and i are debating 9mm SBR options. Looking to end up w a semi 9mm SBR....(cant afford or justify auto now)
Options:
Pay more and just buy factory built...
Buy seperate lower and upper and build own on form 1....
Buy 9mm pistol setup and form 1 it...
Go with glock mag lower or other...

If i could afford an H&K mp5sd would go that route- but have to have a house, car, wife, etc......
Looking for suggestions and ideas.

Those r all viable options. I'm building my wife's 9mm suppressed sbr currently. A lot of money! Lol. However u didn't specify it to be AR specific so with that being said, a cheaper and easier option would be a CZ scorpion. I've seen them in the $799 price range. Throw the $200 form 1 stamp on it, get approved and add a stock and ur done. Cheapest way I know to do a 9mm sbr.

Yup hard to beat the EVO. Unless you count the Roni chassis that's probably cheaper.

I hear 9mm AR SBRs aren't that good. I was planning on building one out of a QC10 Colt lower

I built one as a pistol, Form 1'd it, then put the stock on when approved. Thatd be my suggestion.

I will say I regret going colt style smg mag though. I wish I had gone glock mag style since I have glock 9mm pistols and a ton of glock mags.....

Mine kinda sucks. Malfunctions pretty regularly. PSA bolt broke too once.

Yeah the Roni would be cheaper. Lol. 9mm ar sbr's r awesome! I shot @batoncolle 's the other day. One of the funnest guns I ever shot. They can be finicky sometimes and they cycle hard but there's remedies to both.

I have a cmmg 9mm AR that was chopped to 10.5. Have had it for a few years now without issue once I found a cartridge length it liked (has a tight chamber). That said, I would go with another platform if you plan to suppress it down the line. My main goal was to have a cheaper way to shoot the same setup as my SBR AR and it fits that need for me. Can't go wrong with an EVO either.

Do you know the source of the malfunctions? Wasnt do to the Colt mags was it?

It used to like splitting cases in half for some reason. Never found out why. It would literally blow the case in half and only extract the rimmed half. The front half would be stuck in the chamber.

PSA bolt broke in half once. Gas key came right off. Just got the new Hybrid bolt from them and so far it hasnt split any cases BUT the other day a case got stuck between the front of the CH and the bolt face. How in the hell that happened is beyond me...

The PSA mags and colt mags both seem equal all around. The colt one rusts easy though lol. PSAs seem to be coated better.
