A buddy and I shot AK 47 and VZ 2008 today

I own both AK and VZ platforms, each are great weapons in their own right. I prefer the VZ due to its being a more refined thought out design, only drawback being it's proprietary mags. That being said I'd take either of them over the ar15 any day of the week.
Well I am a poor man so this explains why I have the VZ2008!
It does have me looking / keeping an eye open for a VZ58 (true 58)
If there is anything better than an AK out there, its definitely the VZ 58. Everything about it is just much better, lighter even with a milled receiver, more reliable (the fully open ejection port is awesome), a little bit cooler when rapid fire due to three holes instead of two and the composite wood holds less heat, more accurate, and so on. I can't speak for this one, but if you can get a full auto one, it has a faster rate of fire as well due to the shorter piston. Only thing I hate is the safety switch, terrible place to put it, and the good VZ 58s are bayonet neutered and non-threaded. It use to be hard to get parts for these things but now there is a good bit of stuff out there for them. Mags are still expensive. I have plenty of AKs and a Czechpoint VZ in the skeleton stock. I have mine for about 8 years now and its my favorite rifle to shoot. Trying to get another one but with wood stock.
Get on the email list with Czechpoint-usa.com. They are out of stock right now but they seem to show up about once a month or so. Be ready to spend 1.5K

The vz 58 is a civilized assault rifle. Please wear a coat and tie when decimating the enemy.
