A little early - buck sparring session Aug 2023

Seems a little early but these two were duking it out 13 August 2023. Love seeing the other bucks bottom left come up to see the commotion.

They fight like girls. My little buck that hangs around the house ,shed the velvet last week. The doe s do this to him constantly. He runs. I suspect he gets the last laugh though.

I had the first buck scrape off his velvet yesterday. And destroyed one of my bushes to do so.

The bucks started sparring here about August 17, that I saw anyway. I've seen one big buck chasing a doe a few days back, but it's not a regular thing yet. The does are still in a herd. That won't last when the bucks start chasing them. But for right now 20 of 'em are laying in the shade; it's going to 104 again today, and 106 tomorrow. At least it's cooled off! (I'm kidding.) 115 days since rain. Welcome to Central Texas...
