I just acquired a Norinco 1911. I definitely didn’t buy it on the word of mouth provenance that Jim Stroh worked on the thing. But it appeared to have been tricked out back in the day. Very nice trigger and what appears to be a Wilson combat ambidextrous safety. What do you guys think? It does have a checkered block that replaced the stock A1 back strap and it lines up with some of the work Jim did do. It’s a nice pistol regardless of who actually did the work, and it didn’t cost much either.

How does Jim Stroh get associated with the gun? I have two of his 1911 builds…a government model and a commander.
Both have his name on the slide and both are Colt’s.
He did awesome work…

The provenance was word only but the story, and that’s all I believe it is, goes like this. A guy purchased the Norinco and then had Jim go over the pistol and then shot it competitively apparently. That’s the gist of it. There is no paperwork to prove it in any way. I have a hard time believing it was shot much. It has the box, the other Norinco mag still sealed, the cleaning rod and original cleaning brush and manual.

From a distance of 22 feet I hit the bullseye twice and grouped those two shots near the 7 o clock. The shot ay the 6 o’clock and the 2 o’clock are from my dad.
