A serious question

i cant remember if it was on here or GGT, but someone put up something that would have been illegal in the manner they described it. i PMed a mod and let them deal with it.

Put your comment in the form of a question. That will draw attention to the issue without pointing a finger. If he answers your question untruthfully, you have better ground to call him out on.

This sounds good. If something is just flat out wrong I want someone to bring it up in the thread, but nicely. All it takes is a a couple folks getting the wrong item to turn the site into "a bunch of liars" on the rumor circuit.

IMO .... help folks out ........not dogg em out ..

some folks are just ignorant about stuff and not trying to be deceptive ...

sometimes a pm with a link attached works pretty well ....

Yes, absolutely point it out. Zesty and Okuma's strategy sounds optimum. drtybykr pointed out in one of my posts that an Idea I had may be illegal and even gave a link. I edited my listing accordingly. It was definitely a positive thing and I think it was very helpful. I'm bad about typing what I'm thinking "in the moment", so it's nice to have someone get your back if need be.

If its a glaring mistake like, "buy my .308 win glock 26 that shoots .0001" groups and interchangeable .50bmg barrel" sure, tell them to correct it.

if its opinion, "my hi point is the best gun ever made" then myob.

now it could be "my hi point is the best gun ever made" for under $ 160.00

speaking of... I have a 6th generation glock... ( I know it looks alot like a 3nd gen) but its for sale... 1900$. This thing wont come out untill year 2044 so get it now.

Gun descriptions are one thing... but what concerns me is some of the "armchair commandos" giving newbies, not just new to the forum, but new to firearms period their "expert opinions" on which gun they should carry, or what bullets they should use, or how to clear their house if broken into, etc. when they have never done it, never trained to do it, & I bet in most cases never even read a book about doing it!!!
It's enjoyable & productive to share IDEAS & OPINIONS with each other and to learn from the collective but when people make definitive statements about the use of firearms in deadly force situations without being qualified to do so could put their lives in danger.
Giving advice to others on life & death matters is a very serious matter that should not be taken lightly.

I had this happen before when I was fed misleading information from a Glock tech in Valdosta. I tthen transfered the information on here and a nice member, who shall not be named, pm'd me for pics and then explained the situation to me. Pm's work the best way.
