Academy Sports Great Deals Till January 15

So,,is Academy a decent place to buy guns/ammo and such ? There is one being built in Albany..I made a trip to Valdosta to that one for the " 2 box limit " ammo a few years back, not a bad experience..
Ammo, yes, pretty good if on sale. Also they have discount for Veterans and First Responders which helps --- 10%, most of the time.

Gun, ehhhh, i bought there before at really good price, but thats rare --- best prices are "look online"

I stoped buying any firearms from academy years ago when they said they needed to hold onto your drivers license to show you a gun. At first the worker behind counter said it was a federal policy and when I called him out on the BS, the manager said it was a company policy. I guess academy sees us all as criminals just ready to run out the door with their guns.

Some deals just ain’t worth the hassle. Worst firearms experiences of my life. Took them almost an hour to transfer an AR lower (with ccw and all). Then had to be escorted out for pretty much a paperweight. I’ll buy ammo occasionally but never another firearm.

I've gotten probably half a dozen guns from Academy and never had an issue. Was escorted out every time which was weird, but never been jerked around like some of you. This is in Athens of all liberal places too.

We will see with Academy.. I remember buying a 10/22 at walmart years ago, couldn't buy the ammo with the gun. They would escort you to the door back then. Caused by a shooting at the walmart in Americus Ga. Times change...sometimes for the better.

I get 5 percent using Academy card and then when they have extra 10 percent for veterans and first responders it adds up. I have never bought guns but ammo and sports equipment. I mostly use Athens or Anderson store. Just bought two nice footballs for needy children buy one 2nd half off and 15 percent adds up. Academy supports military and first responders .

Yeah, with a variable 30 something percent on that academy card. Pretty sure I tried to ask about the first responder discount on ammo or guns before and it was a no. The place is a sham.
