Been there done that 2 step verification should be required, same thing hacker was peddling super cheap optics and a warning for anyone if it says the payment account is not from the USA DONT SEND IT!!

Yep I just enabled 2 factor authentication. honestly never knew it was an option here.

All of the above, data breaches combined with using the same login/password multiple places, malicious browser plugins, nefarious "VPN" services (both paid and free), the list is huge. Just remember, if it's "free" you're the product.

All of these are how the hack itself happens, with by far the most common being a data breach somewhere that the hacked user likely never knew occurred.

How the falling for the scam happens is a lack of simple common sense precaution honestly.


Here's how you make yourself scam proof:

Step 1: If it's too good to be true, walk away. - you aren't getting the deal of the century. High end optics aren't getting sold at 1/3 or less of retail. Period.
Step 2: If you don't know someone personally, don't send them electronic funds. No matter how good the scammer is, if you don't send them funds, you can't possibly get screwed out of it.
