Any of you guys do any gun shopping at ace hardware? I just left my local store, and they are REALLY over priced on virtually everything outdoor/ shooting related. They had standard Gen3 mags for 24.99, and metal .50 cal ammo cans for $43.99. I thought surely the cans had to be mis-marked, but they were correctly priced (apparently.) Idk how they stay in business with prices like that.

Been a problem for them for a long time. Not just them, but all of the co-op branded hardware stores. It's pretty simple math. The business model requires two profit margins instead of one: Corporate profit and franchisee profit. Makes it impossible for them to be price competitive with big box or online sellers.

Makes sense to me. It didn't look like they moved a lot of inventory. I'm assuming they rely more on their Yeti and Traeger sales? I couldn't imagine any one with basic knowledge of pricing on the gun world spending a dollar there.

Ace Hardware is like a 7-11. You pay more for the convenience.

Sure, it's WAY over priced but if it's the only thing around that has that ammo, then is it really over priced?

For the person shooting 1 box of ammo per range trip, it might actually save money and time buying from them instead of in bulk or a gun store they have to drive further too.

Money laundering front for organized crime?

Best place for ammo cans when you absolutely, definitely have to get one today, would be your local Harbor Freight.

The only problem with the cans they sell is that the hinges are a bit too 'open' and the lids slide off. Easy fix - crush one of the loops in the lid a tad to get some friction.
