You can try standing the BCG up on the bolt face and see if it supports its own weight. Dead giveaway for bad rings, iirc. -

In that case do not waste your money on an adjustable buffer. The issue is NOT the buffer.

Would need to see the face of the buffer. If nothing is stamped on it, it should be a 2.9oz carbine buffer. If it's an H/H1 or H2...
