Reading the article, it sounds like they think he may still be hiding in the woods, but admit he could be anywhere.

Now, if you were a perp like this, would you have abandoned your rifle in your car if you were even considering hiding in the woods?

The problem with nut cases is they do unpredictable things that normal people find odd or strange. You never know what is going on in their head and this makes them extremely dangerous.
