Aimpoint comp M3 vs. Eotech

Get the Aimpoint. It is that much better...

I have had both! AimPoint is a MUCH better optic in my opinion....the Eotec had a fuzzy reticle and shorter battery life...the Aimpoint has a MUCH longer battery life and a much cleaner and clearer reticle that I like MUCH better....for the money it is hard to beat an AimPoint...

For the money, take a look at the AimPoint PRO...great optic.

I use one on my 107CR and love it!

It depends on what your use of it is. An Aimpoint has certain features that appeal to military personnel : 1) It's waterproof up to so many 100 feet depending on the model. 2) The Aimpoints have tube hatches to close it off from the elements..the Eotechs do have some, but they are heavier and aftermarket. 3) This is the BIG diff here...the battery life on an aimpoint is 100,000x(literally) longer. So it's an easy choice for those who are in the sticks in bum f&C% Afghanistan. You don't have the luxury of keeping your weapon and gear in tip top shape b/c of limited maintenance capabilities in the field. 3) You have to buy a mount for the Aimpoints(other than the M4, and one more model I think). That adds cost. All of the Eotechs are mount ready.

However the pros of the Eotech are : 1) The Eotech is waterproof enough to get rained on or splashed on as long as you aren't in the pacific ocean at 150 feet down for 45 minutes at a time you're fine. So for civilians and police that isn't a need. 2) Many (including myself) like that ring and dot reticle config on the eotech. 3) The human eye adapts better and more quickly to a see through square design as opposed to looking through a tube. That's the reason why TV's and computer screens etc are square. For a CQB non magnified sight the eotech is much more logical, ergonomic, and slightly more economical.(when adding up the cost of a nice mount that you need to buy w/ the Aimpoints)

Conclusion: If you are anyone BUT military either one is a top of the line optic. In the military you have SPECIAL needs watch the jokes boys.. lol ;)... that any other shooter won't need to consider. The only question after battery life and waterproofing is the reticle...that's a personal choice and is way to arbitrary for anyone to say that "it's this one...or that one." Note: The Eotechs are super tough, I have yet to break one from dropping it or banging it. They just aren't quite as meticulously engineered to be run hard and long in the outdoors with no battery changes or to be submerged in water.

I sold my Eotech to buy an Aimpoint. Way better battery life, more durable, easier to operate(one round knob for on/off/brightness adjustments as opposed to stupid push buttons on Eotech) also hated having to push both buttons on Eotech at same time to turn it off. And in the case of the Aimpoint Micros, you get significantly less weight.

Love my H-1 and want to get a M4s next. Aimpoint all the way for me. I had a Eotech and sold it to get the Aimpoint if that says anything.

I have several aimpoints t1,ml3,etc
And 2 eotechs exps2 and exps3. Both are awesome.
Personal preference is what it boils down to. Only drawback to eotech is the battery life. Only drawback to aimpoint is the field of view. Eotech is much easy to see out of.

Aimpoint t1 is very light and durable I like it.

Used both while deployed in the sand box. Any Aimpoint is superior.

Just the fact that you can leave it on all the time and the battery lasts for YEARS is the top selling point. They are lighter, narrower, more durable and not effected by weather conditions.

The Eotechs aren't complete junk but they just aren't at the same level as the AP. I've seen the Eotechs fail for no reason at all. They require too much adjustment because they don't save your settings when they get turned off (the ones we had didn't anyway).

In the end, just buy what you like. You're not going into combat most likely and unless you rely on your AR for immediate defense use then most of this information is irrelevant.

Aimpoint comp m3 all the way. They are built like tanks. The batteries last up to five years so you can leave it on. I also like the knob adjustment. I had an xps 2 and found the circle around the 1 moa dot annoying. Not to mention the clumsy on/off adjustment buttons.
