New to the AR world. Looking to pick me up a quality optic but have no knowledge or expierence with these style optics. Would some of you more knowledgable people to educate me. Which would you pick and why? Looking to stay under $600. I own a Windham Weaponry SRC. Thanks fellas!

Personal experience I would go with the Aimpoint. I have an old M2 that I have used for years, works good. Have used Eotechs, not been overly impressed with them and generally not a fan for various reasons, battery life and them going down being a major factor for me. For the money you are looking to spend you could get an Aimpoint Pro with a high end mount and still have a little change to spare. That all said, go and handle both, will likely have to go to several stores since most will carry one or the other and not both and do you own research online. Both can fill the need, but sometimes a lot of things come down to personal preference.

Aimpoint PRO.
1. You never have to turn it off. Battery life for 3 years with it always on.
2. Impervious to temperature and water to 15 feet.
3. 2 MOA dot allows for excellent CQB fighting but allows for some reasonable accuracy at distance also.
4. PRO come with lens caps already attached. The front just flips down and the rear is clear so you've got instant usage but always protected.
5. PRO is NV compatible and has 10 settings.
6. Pro comes with a solid mount that will co-witness and allows for removal and re-attachment while keeping zero.
7. PRO is slightly lighter and is more narrow than the Eotech.
8. Best thing, PRO is $410 brand new with a 10 year warranty for civilian use.

Eotech is more for no reason at all.

The Aimpoint PRO is the best deal going for a quality red dot. I've seen too many Eotech's fail to have any faith in them. The only Aimpoint's that I've seen go down have been from dead batteries.

On the super long life; just note that the numbers work on about 70% of max power and in a controlled environment. I get about a year to a year and a half leaving one on the setting just below max and keeping it in a trunk through hot and cold. Battery performance is the limitation vs circuitry. I replace my batteries every 6 months whether it needs it or not on a defensive carbine. Everything else is annual.. then again my last name is Murphy.

^^^ this is the absolute truth and I have one that is barely used for sale at this moment.

there is no Eotech that trumps any Aimpoint

Spend the money and get the Aimpoint Micro H-1 or T-1 and a good mount and you will be very happy with a extremely lightweight and super tough red dot!
