I wanted to start a thread for those people who are interested in building,assembling or modifying your AK's/ AR's. I would like for this to be a help/information forum on these type firearms. I love to work on my guns myself when possible and sometimes run into problems that I need information/advice from those more knowledgeable than me.

I thought about that but was concerned about having enough people in each category to make it a viable thread.

It gets expensive to buy all the tools for building AK's so I thought with some some of the builders I know on here if someone wanted to build we could assist them or maybe they could assist someone like me. I'm semi-retired and have time on my hands and really enjoy tinkering with stuff....

AR DIYs have been done many times over. Maybe pick the best one and make it a sticky? No reason to reinvent the wheel.
AK DIY is what we really need. With all the kits floating around, this is actually worth pursuing
