I hate them. If I sling it up close to me it scrapes my chest or side. Don't want a scope anyway.

Anyone on here have any experience taking one off?

I have a Mak 90 without it, smooth side, and I love that gun.

I recently bought a IO AKM from a fellow member. Yes, it is a cheaper AK, but for the money it is great. The gun shoots fine and I like it a lot, lightweight and I put 3 mags through it two days ago. Shot fairly good groups, using iron sights and cheap ammo at 50 yards. Hell, with my eyes, getting on the 8-inch target is doing good.

It's going to be my backdoor gun for critter control and I won't worry about being too careful with it as I do my MAK 90. Shot a coyote with the MAK 90 recently.

Just wondering if I can drill the rivets out and exactly what will be involved bringing it back to a reasonable finish. I don't want to ruin the gun. I will be pissed everytime I look at it.

Thanks for any advice (other than buying another MAK 90 or Arsenal).

yeah, you'll have to re finish it.

Plus 2-3 holes in the receiver.
Some scope mounts use rear trunnion for last river.
I can help with getting them out, rest will be you )

what finish does that rifle/s receiver have now (blued, spray paint, baked on paint, parkerizing) ? what you going to plug the 3 holes with after removing the rivets and rail ?

Whatever the factory finish is. Website says it is "Military finish (Manganese phosphate / Parkerized)" Also the problem is what do I plug the holes with? More rivets? Metal plugs?

I can do minor metal work but don't want to screw this up if I can help it.

Thanks.
